illustrated encyclopedia of sex

i borrowed this book from a friend of mine. published in 1950, the illustrated encyclopedia of sex has some of the most visually appealing diagrams of sex organs i have seen, i couldn't put the book down and bothered everyone at the party by showing them diagrams such as this one.

but the diagrams dealing with male sexual excitement are pretty amusing.

and, on the subject of female sexual excitement the book has this to say: "...the seat of female sexual satisfaction is the posterior part of the vagina...What we mean is that this part of the vagina is the most important receiving station of excitations, the actual seat of voluptuous sensation being, of course, the central nervous system, i.e., the brain." the only visuals dealing with female excitement are in the form of schematic diagrams comparing the timing of female orgasm to that of the male.

previous trips: havasupai

layne and i hiked down to the village of supai last october. supai is located on the havasupai indian reservation on the southern side of grand canyon national park. there are no roads, you have to travel on foot, by mule or by helicopter to get there. havasu creek flows through town and down the canyon until it reaches the colorado river. the water originates from a spring which is highly mineralized, making the water a bright blue, and a little bit warm (70 degrees or so), making it perfect for swimming. you can see more pictures of this trip at flickr.

previous trips: grand canyon river trip

one of the perks of my current job is the opportunity to go to national parks and do cool things. last year i was third in line for a last-minute cancelation, and third was good enough. here are a couple of pictures, you can see more at flickr.

i would really love to be able to post pictures and text from my phone, gotta try that. it would be much better if my phone actually took pictures, though.
